Memoire Design woven rattan furniture and nearly 50 years of design

Some materials belong to a moment. Others transcend it. For nearly five decades, woven furniture has been at the heart of our story, evolving with the way we live while retaining the warmth, texture, and character that first made it timeless.

Today, that story continues as Memoire Design™. While our collections evolve, our appreciation for the artistry of woven design remains constant.

Rattan and wicker have an extraordinary ability to bridge worlds. They can feel relaxed and refined, traditional and modern, familiar and unexpected. They bring craftsmanship into view and natural texture into rooms that are meant to be lived in.

Nearly 50 years later, that enduring quality continues to inspire what we design, how we think about interiors, and where we go next.

Trends may change, but beautiful materials,
thoughtful design, and enduring craftsmanship remain.

A Story Woven Over Time

The story behind Memoire Design™ began long before the name itself.

For nearly 50 years, woven furniture has been central to the company’s point of view. Through changing homes, changing tastes, and changing generations, one idea has remained remarkably consistent: natural texture has the power to make an interior feel warmer, more personal, and more alive.

What began with an appreciation for woven craftsmanship has grown into a broader design philosophy, one rooted in creating pieces with character and presence that can live comfortably in beautifully layered interiors.

Why Woven Design Endures

There is a reason rattan and wicker continue to find their way into beautiful interiors generation after generation.

Woven furniture offers something that many materials cannot: structure and softness at the same time. A strong silhouette can feel architectural, while the weave itself introduces movement, texture, and the unmistakable evidence of the human hand.

It is equally comfortable beside an antique chest, an upholstered sofa, a contemporary table, or a room filled with pattern and color.

That versatility has allowed woven design to evolve without losing its identity.

Our Point of View

Timeless Does Not Mean
Standing Still

The most enduring designs are not frozen in the past. They evolve, finding new relevance through proportion, finish, color, craftsmanship, and the way they are used.

03

Craftsmanship You Can See

One of the qualities we have always loved about woven furniture is that its craftsmanship is visible.

The curve of a frame, the rhythm of a weave, a wrapped joint, a braided edge, or an intricate trellis pattern becomes part of the finished design.

These are not details intended to disappear. They are part of what gives a piece personality.

Natural materials add another dimension. Variations in texture, tone, and surface character ensure that woven furniture never feels entirely manufactured. Each piece carries subtle individuality.

Designed for the Way We Live

Homes have changed considerably over nearly five decades, but the desire for rooms that feel welcoming and personal has not.

Today’s interiors are increasingly layered. Antiques sit beside contemporary pieces. Indoor and outdoor spaces flow together. Formal rooms are expected to be beautiful, but they are also expected to be lived in.

Woven furniture feels especially relevant in this environment because it refuses to belong to only one category.

A rattan dining chair can bring ease to a formal dining room. A woven lounge chair can introduce warmth to contemporary architecture. A sculptural game table can make a practical space feel considered and special.

Nearly Five Decades

What Endures Is
Good Design

Materials evolve. Interiors evolve. The way we live evolves. But thoughtful proportions, beautiful craftsmanship, and pieces made with character have a way of remaining relevant.

A New Chapter: Memoire Design™

In 2025, Mainly Baskets Home became Memoire Design™, marking a new chapter for a company with a longstanding history in woven furniture.

The new name reflects both where we have been and where we are going.

Memoire speaks to memory, to the objects and interiors that become part of our lives, and to the belief that beautiful design should have a sense of permanence.

The evolution represents more than a new name. It reflects an expanded vision of the brand while preserving the appreciation for woven design that has defined the company for nearly five decades.

06

Honoring the Past Without Recreating It

Heritage is most meaningful when it informs the future rather than simply repeating the past.

At Memoire Design™, traditional woven techniques and familiar materials become starting points for new ideas. Classic forms can be reconsidered through scale, color, proportion, or pattern, while new silhouettes can retain the warmth and craftsmanship associated with rattan and wicker.

It is this balance that allows a piece to feel familiar without feeling expected.

07

Made to Be Part of a Home

Furniture becomes meaningful through use.

A dining chair becomes part of countless conversations. A game table gathers family and friends. A favorite lounge chair becomes the place someone always chooses. A basket holds the everyday objects that make a house feel lived in.

Over time, these pieces become connected to the memories made around them.

That idea is at the heart of Memoire Design™: creating furniture and objects that are not simply admired, but incorporated into the life of a home.

Then, Now & Next

The Ideas That
Continue to Guide Us

01

Craftsmanship

Details matter, particularly those that reveal how a piece was made.

02

Natural Texture

Woven materials bring warmth, dimension, and character into a room.

03

Timeless Design

We believe beautiful proportions have greater longevity than passing trends.

04

Individuality

Natural variation and handcrafted details give pieces personality.

05

Evolution

Respect for tradition should inspire new ideas, not limit them.

06

Home

Ultimately, our designs are created to become part of the places people live.

08

Designed to Inspire, Crafted to Endure

Nearly 50 years of woven design is both a milestone and a beginning.

The materials that inspired the company decades ago continue to offer new possibilities today. New collections, collaborations, colors, forms, and ways of living provide an opportunity to keep exploring what woven furniture can become.

What remains constant is our belief in pieces with character, craftsmanship, and a sense of permanence.

Because while a beautiful piece of furniture can transform a room, the best pieces eventually become something more: part of its memory.

Designed to inspire, crafted to endure.
